So, I must have to much time on my hands...I'm posting.

Guess what? Life is good.

I have been busy with school and work and life. When isn't one?

I work here...yes, amazing indeed.

So, plans for school next year are going well...I know where I am going to be living...that is majorly helpful.

Piece of knowledge: www.fastweb.com is a great place to find scholarships...at least a good place to find them...who knows if you can actually get money...

Music videos are too much fun...and so I am going to close this blip with a few.

You should hear my little brother sing this song...he loves it, but dosen't know an eighth of the words.

This video is love, love, love and fun, fun, fun and odd, odd, odd?

And let us end with happiness.

Now off to War and Peace. I think I shall move to Russia.

To quote Calvin, "As the French have it, adieu" (what an amazingly well-rounded 6 year old, he confessed this was not an original phrase, he put it together after watching Ratatouille and Pride and Prejudice.)

So, I was under the impression that xanga was very dead, but along came winter and cold, and despite the frozen fingers of those of us in under-heated houses (not to be confused with under-privileged) we returned to the blogs of old...or something like that.

I'm happy for I am going this weekend to visit some of my bestest people...like a couple of these ones.

Life is good...good times.

Some of us are going to see these guys in concert...what fun.

Enter the Haggis...woot.

So, that's the news of the day.

Oh, I thought I'd give you link this...just some scribbles...but hey, I earned 33 cents off the stuff.

And we need to go see this together...'cause intelligence isn't allowed.

And here is a different Steyn on something else...so that's why Huckabee shouldn't be voted for.

I want this shirt.

Primaries next month!

And a video for you.

I leave you with a parting and endearing semicolon.

;

There.

Love,

R

P.S. Have you seen how xanga is trying to copy facebook? Too much.

Well folks...happy Christmas!

I thought I would post our Christmas letter, which I wrote once again.

But I also wanted to tell you...

I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO NEW SAINT ANDREWS!

Yep, I'm pretty happy.

Pretty very happy.

Anywho...here is the letter...if you want to read it.

Once again dear friends and family, I take keyboard in hand, (which happens to be an interesting endeavor) for the literal taking pen in hand has long been lost to nostalgia (a word which Zac thinks sounds like a disease.)

The Hurt clan is still alive with two legs each and blessed to live in sunny Virginia. I am beginning to believe in global warming when December days hit highs of eighty degrees. Nevertheless, the weather will occasionally insist on freezing your poorly circulating toes off and so I sit here, feet in front of the electric heater (for fire places went with the pens) and soak up some Sufjan Stevens Christmas songs while thinking of which little tidbits of Hurt life news to tell you.

This was a year of much flying. Mom and Dad went to Greece in April, had a marvelous time and returned with hopes of more international travel. Later in the summer all eight of us headed West, the traditional route of man since the beginning of time. We had good times, seeing family, seeing friends of old and visiting our previous little habitation, Moscow. Also, Grandma Rose and Grandpa Bob came to visit us this fall, permanently infecting Zac and Dad with the golf itch.

Though we have had much to celebrate this year, we have encountered a great sorrow with the death of Mom’s dad, Phil McRoberts, in November. We were very thankful we were able to visit him when we traveled to Idaho this summer.

To conglomerate: Zac (14), Anna (12), Leah (11) and Calvin (6) have all been at Pactum Christian Academy this year as A students. In fact, all of us have had various roles at Pactum this fall. I (a.k.a. Rebecca, 17) have been teaching my little Latin class, which I am quite proud of; Dad has been doing everything, from pastoring to teaching to coaching; Mom taught a whole one room school house for a semester, but is now retired; Elizabeth grades millions of papers as well as having assisted Mom greatly. You know, I wrote that sentence just for the semi-colons.

Since the last letter, Leah played her first season of softball, and of course was the star player and made All-Stars. Calvin played tee-ball, which I assure was entertaining, especially with the sponsor name of Discount Portable Restrooms and Septic Service. You should hear him rattle that off. Zac also made All-Stars once again and his team went to the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row. Anna took up singing in a choir and advanced her horse riding skills. Elizabeth continued with her music, both piano and violin, and has been playing piano for our church. I just kept reading stuff, had interesting community college experiences, worked at a coffee shop and got accepted to New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, ID (the joy that fills my soul).

Well, I feel that it is time for us to part, but I should like to say that I hope you have a sufficient awe and wonder of what we really celebrate this time of year. Emmanuel, God with us. You know about it, you have heard it before, but have you really thought about the ginormesness of the whole thing? Our most holy and powerful God, come to earth as a little baby, named Jesus. Think about it, look at a baby. Get your mind around God becoming so weak and humble, all for us. It truly is beautiful. Merry Christmas.

Love, The Hurt Family

Love,

R

P.S. Cousins, do you here this song? Does it bring back memories?...of a decade ago.

EDIT:

So, Lauryl inspired me...and I thought I would add a few more "helpful" links.

Rice and knowledge.

It is great for learning things and helping people at the same time...great to do when you are bored.

Samaritan’s Purse is a great Christian charity. Check out their gift catalog.

END EDIT

So...wonder of wonders...I thought I would post.

Even though xanga is in a state of a coma.

Life is good.

I am not working at the coffee shop anymore...which has a slight touch of sadness. But I quit to help my parents with the school, and it is all for the best.

School is coming along...my community college class is...interesting.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The cousins are coming, which is overly joyful...

I think the rest of this post shall just be shameless plugs for things I really like.

Such as www.pandora.com. Have some music. It is a gift, from me to you.

Then go read a book.

Manalive!

The best book ever.

Then, since I gave you all this wonderful free stuff, you can go donate some sweet green to Ron Paul. Or you can just read about his views on things. We really could use a good president, eh?

Seeing it is so crazy around here these days...I thought it would be fiiting to just post some homework. I know that no one reads long posts...but I am going to post one anyway...if you actually read it...I hope you like it.

Home work writing for English 111:

The Tempest

It was a hot afternoon. So hot that when you stepped outside it felt as though you had walked into a wall of heat and the only thing you had in mind was to head for the nearest beacon of air conditioning, perhaps the grocery store. The sun beat down doing its best at warming our globe and I felt as if I would get an instant tan just standing there. How quickly all this was to change.

I had just returned home, from the grocery store in fact, and had situated myself to plow through some homework at my desk, right next to one of my huge picture windows. Shortly it was to be quite the picture. Subconsciously I noticed the growing darkness as the sun was chased off by mammoth grey clouds that eventually covered the entire broad face of the sky. Then the wind began to blow. And with the wind came the water; buckets and buckets of rain that threw themselves against the rooftops with reckless abandon.  Indeed, there was so much rain and so much wind that when the rain hit a roof it sprayed up over it like waves crashing on a beach. It truly was a sight to behold.

With the water came lightning and with the lightning, thunder. I am somewhat afraid of lightning; I was once outside very close to a house that was hit, but that is another story. On this day I sat safely secure in my seat and watched the great display at ease.  I watched as the lightning split the sky and listened as the thunder grumbled at him. I watched the lightning hit a distant telephone pole and heard the thunder roar back his displeasure. As usual, the power flicked off, and on, off again and then stayed steady. So much for that paper I was writing.

All too soon the chaos began to move on. The sky only pulsed with light, the thunder only rumbled in the distance, and the rain left me altogether. I felt that sadness you feel when a storm leaves. It is similar to the feeling one gets at the end of a lovely vacation, or right before your best friend leaves after visiting you from afar. Maybe it is more like the emptiness you feel when you near the end of a great book or a good movie. For then it is over, there is no more.

The sun went back to global warming. Once again the asphalt heated up, but now it was boiling, for the cool rain that had fallen now rose up in muggy steam. It was much more humid then before. Except for the small puddles in the lawn and on the sidewalk there were no signs of the epic events that had just occurred. I turned my fan on and went back at it.

 It got a 100%.

:)

R
